Arab Finance: Somabay, a Red Sea tourism destination, has partnered with the UK’s Chevening Scholarships Programme to provide a fully funded scholarship to an Egyptian student for the 2026-2027 academic year, as per an emailed press release.

The scholarship was awarded to Noha Soliman, a student from Nuba in Aswan governorate, to pursue a master’s degree in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Bristol.

Somabay will cover Soliman’s study, travel and living expenses throughout her scholarship.

Chevening has enabled more than 1,500 Egyptians to pursue fully funded master’s degrees in the UK over the past 43 years, with around 3,000 applications received from Egypt each year, according to the statement.

“The partnership between Chevening and Somabay is an excellent example of the power of collaboration in investing in the next generation of leaders,” British Ambassador to Egypt Mark Bryson-Richardson said.

“By supporting future Egyptian leaders, Somabay is not only investing in an individual's academic journey, but also in the long-term development and prosperity of Egypt,” he added.

Ibrahim El Missiri, CEO of Somabay Group, said the partnership reflects the company’s long-term vision of creating lasting value beyond destination development.

“We believe that supporting education and empowering young people are among the most meaningful investments we can make in the future of our communities,” El Missiri said.

The scholarship forms part of Somabay’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy focused on sustainable education and community development.

As part of the strategy, Somabay established Kompass Somabay, a multilingual school that promotes sustainability from an early age.

The company has also partnered with GEMS Education to establish GEMS International School Somabay (GISS) on the Red Sea, offering an American curriculum with a focus on globally recognized academic programs and fostering curiosity among students.
