Arab Finance: The unemployment rate in Egypt has recorded 7.2% of total labor force in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022, slipping by 0.2% from in Q3 2022, according to a press release issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on February 15th.
Total labor force edged up by 0.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to 30.344 million in Q4 2022 from 30.264 million in Q3 2022, data showed.
Labor force in urban communities reached 13.211 million during the October-December period last year, while it stood at 17.133 million in rural areas.
In terms of gender, data highlighted that 25.200 million of Egyptian labor force in the three-month period ended December 31st were males, while only 5.144 million were females.
The number of the unemployed reached 2.185 million in Q4 2022, accounting for 7.4% of the total labor force in Egypt.
The unemployment rate among males recorded 4.7% of total male labor force participation, while unemployed females made up 19.3% of total female labor force participation.
