Arab Finance: The European Commission has approved the disbursement of €1.5 billion, the second payment of the second tranche of its Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) package to Egypt, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 24, 2026.
This transfer completes the overall financial support package allocated to Egypt, totaling €5 billion. It follows the €1 billion first payment of the second tranche, which was disbursed in January 2026.
The funding is part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU, launched in March 2024 to strengthen economic cooperation and support the country's reform agenda.
Overall, the EU has committed a €7.4 billion support package for Egypt through 2027. It includes €5 billion within MFA, €1.8 billion in investment guarantees for European and Egyptian companies, and approximately €600 million for technical assistance, training, and capacity-building initiatives.
On the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and discussed the development of bilateral relations since their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024.
