Arab Finance: Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), attended a ceremony hosted by the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) to honor the Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB), according to a press release.
The event celebrates CIB’s achievement as the "Best Bank for Sustainable Finance in Africa 2025," reaffirming the lender’s support for initiatives aimed at integrating sustainability and responsible banking practices.
This recognition reflects the tangible progress achieved by the Egyptian banking sector in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards into credit and financing policies.
These efforts align with the government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable development and accelerate the transition toward a green economy.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Hussein Eissa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; and Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development.
Islam Azzam, Executive Chairman of the EGX, also attended the event, along with Hisham Ezz Al-Arab, CEO of CIB–Egypt, and Mohamed Aboumoussa, Assistant Governor for the CBE, among other senior officials from the financial and banking sectors.
