El-Sisi, Danish Prime Minister discuss climate change phenomenon

Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has welcomed the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, where they discussed ways to address the phenomenon of climate change, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement on March 13th.

The meeting also dealt with the most prominent areas of joint cooperation between Egypt and Denmark, especially with regard to maximizing Danish investments in Egypt in a number of vital sectors such as maritime transport and shipping, renewable and clean energy.

El-Sisi expressed Egypt's readiness to provide all possible facilities to promote and develop the investments of the giant Danish shipping companies in Egypt, including the establishment of a regional hub for the production of green fuel for vessels.

In addition, El-Sisi and Frederiksen agreed to continue joint coordination to follow up on the results of the COP27.

For her part, the Danish premier also praised Egypt's efforts to confront the phenomenon of illegal immigration.

The developments of international and regional dossiers of common interest were also discussed, especially the negative repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Views were also exchanged on the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), as both officials agreed on the importance of reaching a binding legal agreement to settle this dispute in a way that preserve the rights and interests of all parties.
