Egypt opens first phase of 2026/2027 public university admission on August 5

Arab Finance: Egypt's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that the first phase of electronic admissions coordination for public universities and institutes for the 2026/2027 academic year will run from August 5 to August 9, as per a statement.

The ministry noted that the admissions process has been finalized following the expansion of universities, faculties, and academic programs in recent years, which has increased the higher education system's capacity while maintaining the quality of educational services.

The electronic admissions office will continue to accommodate students graduating under both the new and old Thanaweya Amma systems when setting minimum admission thresholds, in line with a decision by the Supreme Council of Universities to ensure equal opportunities.

A total of 94,767 students under the new Thanaweya Amma system and 98 students under the old system are eligible to participate in the first phase.

For students under the new system, the minimum admission score is set at 292 points, or 91.25%, for the science stream, covering 23,154 students; 275.5 points, or 86.09%, for the mathematics stream, covering 16,046 students; and 229 points, or 71.56%, for the literary stream, covering 55,567 students.

Under the old system, the minimum admission score is 369 points, or 90%, for the science stream, covering 21 students; 347 points, or 84.63%, for the mathematics stream, covering seven students; and 270 points, or 65.85%, for the literary stream, covering 70 students.

Students can submit their university and institute preferences through the official electronic coordination website at https://tansik.digital.gov.eg or at university computer labs, which will operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. throughout the five-day registration period.

Those using personal computers can submit or amend their preferences online 24 hours a day, including on official holidays, with the deadline for all submissions and modifications set at 7:00 p.m. on the final day of the first-phase registration.
