Arab Finance: Egypt plans to develop 14 tourist centers along the Red Sea coast as part of an integrated strategic plan to maximize the area’s investment potential, Mostafa Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Tourism Development, said.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Abdel Wahab outlined the scheme to expand hotel capacity by allocating coastal areas for development projects, while allocating inland areas for secondary homes, hotel-managed units, staff housing, and supporting services.
The development strategy will divide the Red Sea coast into specialized tourism centers based on each area’s natural resources, location, and competitive advantages, supporting diverse tourism products and maximizing investment efficiency.
The authority aims to leverage the region's assets, such as its long coastline, renewable energy, mineral resources, and diverse beach, ecotourism, and wellness tourism activities.
Moreover, the CEO rolled out development plans for northeastern Sinai, including the West Arish Tourist Center, covering approximately 9,000 feddans, the city of Arish itself, and the Zaranik area on Lake Bardawil, to capitalize on the region’s tourism, environmental, agricultural, and logistical potential.
