Arab Finance: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources inked two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to provide technical expertise to the Syrian energy sector, according to a statement.
The MoUs were signed on the sidelines of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi’s meeting with a high-level Syrian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Energy for Oil Affairs Ghiath Diab.
The first agreement targets cooperation on supplying natural gas to Syria through Egypt for electricity generation.
The deal will utilize Egyptian infrastructure, including floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) and gas transmission networks.
Meanwhile, the second MoU aims to meet Syria’s demand for petroleum products.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in rehabilitating Syria’s gas and petroleum infrastructure, leveraging Egypt’s expertise.
