Arab Finance: Orange Egypt has partnered with UAE-based fintech platform Botim to enable users in the UAE to send money directly to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt, as per an emailed press release.
The service connects Botim’s more than 2 million Egyptian users with an Orange Cash network serving approximately 10 million customers. Recipients can use the funds for transfers, payments and purchases, or withdraw them as cash.
“Through this partnership, Botim enables Egyptian residents in the UAE to send money 24/7 directly to Orange Cash wallets in Egypt, delivering a seamless customer experience. Orange Cash customers can conveniently access their funds through 300,000+ cash-out points nationwide, including Orange stores, ATMs, and authorized retailers. Combined with ongoing cashback offers and grand-prize promotions, Orange Cash continues to deliver greater value for everyday financial needs,” Ahmed El Abd, Chief Consumer Business Unit Officer at Orange Egypt, said.
The agreement is Botim’s first with a mobile operator in Egypt, extending the platform’s remittance offering through a local wallet network. Its financial services in the UAE span payments, remittances, lending and other offerings.
Hesham Sherif, Vice President of Consumer Payments and Wealth at Botim, explained how the partnership fits into the company’s approach to international transfers. “Digital wallets have transformed how people move money, yet they remain largely disconnected across borders. This fragmentation limits their potential to make international remittances more accessible and affordable. At Botim, we are working to bridge that gap by building a network that connects users in the UAE directly to their families' preferred digital wallets back home. Egypt is already among our top five remittance corridors, and partnering with Orange Cash, with its established reach in the market, brings us one step closer to making cross-border transfers as seamless as domestic payments.”
For Orange Egypt, which serves more than 30 million customers nationwide, the collaboration forms part of its efforts to expand Orange Cash’s capabilities and access to secure digital financial services. By linking its telecommunications and wallet network with Botim’s UAE platform, the partnership aims to make money sent from abroad easier for families to receive and manage, while supporting financial inclusion and the adoption of digital financial services in Egypt.
