Arab Finance: TITAN Egypt and solar power developer SolarizEgypt have signed an agreement to add 10 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity at the cement producer’s Beni Suef plant, raising the project’s total planned capacity to 21.45 MW, as per a press release.

The deal extends a power purchase agreement signed in June 2026. Once the expanded facility enters commercial operation, it is expected to produce around 43.2 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, supplying a portion of the plant’s power requirements and lowering emissions linked to electricity consumption.

For TITAN Egypt, the investment forms part of a wider program that includes greater use of alternative fuels, improvements in operational efficiency, and the development of lower-carbon cement products. These initiatives follow the broader TITAN Group’s strategy on sustainability, innovation, and long-term competitiveness.

Amr Reda, CEO of TITAN Egypt, said: “Expanding our partnership with SolarizEgypt represents another important milestone in our efforts to advance more sustainable operations and strengthen our energy efficiency. We see investment in renewable energy as a key driver of our competitiveness and a practical way to reduce our carbon footprint, enabling us to sustain our growth amid the rapid changes shaping the industrial sector.

“This expansion builds on our ongoing sustainability investments and reflects our commitment to translating our climate ambitions into tangible action. It also reinforces our commitment to supporting the development and competitiveness of Egypt's industrial sector through the adoption of advanced technologies and strategic partnerships that deliver lasting economic and environmental value,” he added.

Mohamed El Foly, Chief Commercial Officer of SolarizEgypt, commented: “We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with TITAN Egypt and expand the scope of a project that demonstrates the significant potential of solar energy to support the industrial sector's power needs. This expansion reflects the mutual trust between our two companies, as well as the growing recognition of renewable energy as a practical solution for improving operational efficiency and advancing sustainability goals.

“We look forward to building on this collaboration and leveraging our expertise in solar project development to deliver solutions tailored to the needs of energy-intensive industries. We also hope this project will serve as a successful example of how strategic partnerships can accelerate the adoption of clean energy across Egypt,” he continued.

The additional capacity supports Egypt’s efforts to raise renewable energy’s share of its energy mix and improve industrial competitiveness, with private investment contributing to the shift toward more sustainable manufacturing.
