Egypt, Oman mull cooperation in mining sector

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi mulled over exchanging expertise with Oman in the fields of mining development and oil and gas, according to a statement.

This came during Badawi’s meeting with Oman’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Mohsin Alhadhrami, on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum 2026 in Riyadh.

Badawi also discussed investment opportunities and potential areas of cooperation between Egypt and Oman in the mining sector.

He outlined Oman's advancements in this field following the completion of a comprehensive aerial survey, which aims to improve the exploitation of mineral resources.

Both sides tackled ways to maximize the participation of Egyptian companies in implementing infrastructure projects in the Sultanate's oil and gas sector.

Moreover, Badawi highlighted that the mining sector has witnessed significant development by transforming the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) into an economic authority to facilitate licensing and expedite investment procedures.

The minister also touched upon the launch of the first comprehensive aerial and seismic survey of mineral resources in 40 years, aimed at updating geological data.

On a different note, Enppi and Petrojet are currently working on major projects, while the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC) has been registered to participate in well-drilling projects in Oman.
