Arab Finance: The last week of September ended with a handful of economic agreements in key sectors and major events, such as the Egypt Mining Forum 2026, which gathered officials from AngloGold Ashanti, the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG), the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), and the World Bank Group.

Besides the mining industry, the financing sector also witnessed key developments, as the government settled a long-standing debt of EGP 102.75 billion, owed by the Industrial and Mining Projects Authority (IMPA) to the National Investment Bank (NIB). 

1- Egypt advances 8 mining projects as sector targets 6% GDP contribution: Badawi

Egypt is advancing eight industrial projects to maximize the value of its phosphate resources, including the first phase of the Abu Tartour phosphoric acid complex, which has investments of $650 million, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi said.

2- Egypt signs framework deal to settle EGP 102.75B IMPA debt to NIB

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of a framework agreement to settle a long-standing debt of EGP 102.75 billion, owed by the Industrial and Mining Projects Authority (IMPA) to the National Investment Bank (NIB). 

3- Egypt denies $50M payment to repair Energos Winter FSRU

The Cabinet Media Center has denied reports claiming that Egypt will bear $50 million in repair costs for the Energos Winter floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which was damaged in a previous incident at Damietta Port.
