Arab Finance: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with representatives of Heka Data and a US consortium of data center developers to discuss power supply requirements for establishing a world-class data center project in Egypt, according to a statement.
The talks focused on securing a stable, reliable, and sustainable electricity supply, utilizing renewable and clean energy sources. The sides also explored regulatory, technical, and investment frameworks to support the project.
Esmat reviewed the company's business plan and vision for the data center project, highlighting its potential contribution to the data center, cloud computing, and AI-based sectors.
The meeting also addressed attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and global technology companies, leveraging the company's competitive experience in the electricity, telecom, and infrastructure sectors.
This falls within the government’s objectives to localize the technology industry, boost digital transformation, and support data center manufacturing to attract investments in this vital sector.
