Egypt aims to increase wheat cultivation areas by 25% during new season

Arab Finance: Egypt aims to increase the areas allocated for wheat cultivation by 25% to reach 4 million feddan in the new season, compared to 3.2 million feddan in the season whose harvest ended in mid-July, Asharq business reported on September 11h, citing an unnamed government official. 

Wheat supplied by farmers last season decreased by about 10% to 3.4 million tons from 3.8 million tons in the 2022 season, according to data seen by Asharq Business. 

The data also revealed that wheat cultivation lands declined to 3.2 million feddan from about 3.65 million feddan a season ago. 

The wheat planting season begins from mid-November until the end of January, while the harvesting season begins from mid-April until mid-July.
